“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees…” – Erma Bombeck
One of the advantages of living in or visiting Northern California Wine Country during the 4th of July is that along with parades, fireworks, and barbecues you will also find wineries offering something special to celebrate the holiday. Here’s how to celebrate 4th of July in Sonoma County and Sonoma Valley.
Sonoma County
Start the holiday at the 2nd Annual 4th of July Kids’ Parade in Healdsburg Plaza presented by Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then consider a few options for viewing fireworks including Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, and the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University.
