If you’ve ever wanted to go behind the scenes at some of Sonoma Valley’s most remarkable wineries, then this weekend’s Signature Sonoma Valley is for you. Running April 6 through 8, 2018, you can explore more than 80 sommelier-selected wines and the 90+ vintners and growers who crafted them, with plenty of up-close and personal interaction with the winemakers.
As the second annual event kicks off Friday, attendees can choose to attend a single session, such as the IMMERSION gatherings, held Friday and Saturday at various wineries ($50-$175). Here, you’ll enjoy seminars or VIP tours of iconic, off-the-beaten path vineyards followed by a sommelier-moderated tasting and discussion of wines, plus a farm-to-table lunch. Some of the acclaimed wineries participating include Bedrock Vineyard, Sangiacomo Family Vineyards and Silver Cloud Vineyard.
Or, you might choose the WINE + DESIGN gatherings, held April 6 and April 7, for the rare opportunity to visit exclusive properties and private homes not otherwise open to the public. With each tour hosted by prominent vintners, the visits include lunch paired with limited edition wines ($175).
But the best way to get the most education and entertainment is to go all-in, with the Weekend Package ($1,750). This includes all the highlights and some truly unique offerings, such as the Friday ICON gathering at Ram’s Gate Winery in Los Carneros. The 6 p.m. walk-around tasting features meet-and-greet 30 winemakers and winegrowers, focusing on legends and upcoming trends for the region. Among other activities, the package also includes the Saturday VIP RECEPTION & LEGENDS DINNER, the Sunday BUBBLES + BRUNCH, and new this year, the Saturday RETROSPECTIVE. The gathering showcases Hanzell’s legendary vintages across multiple decades, led by Hanzell winemaker Michael McNeill.
