If you’ve ever dreamed about being a winemaker – or even more grand, owning a winery – here’s your chance to see what it really would be like. Passaggio Wines of Sonoma is offering a Crush Camp on Saturday, September 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its new winery location near the Sonoma Skypark off 8th Street.
It’s an opportunity to work alongside winemaker/owner Cindy Cosco, right in the heart of harvest time. Guests should plan to wear work clothes, and dive into every aspect of the job, down to plucking grapes off the vines.
“The grapes are beginning to come into the winery fast and furiously, so anything can happen,” Cosco said. “For the spontaneous, the adventurous and the wine lover, there will be something for everyone.”
As an added bonus, the day includes lunch with Cosco, of garden fresh salad and handmade pizzas hot off the grill. It’s an intimate experience, too, limited to just 16 guests.
“I was so fortunate when I was learning the winemaking process, so now I want everyone to share in the fun,” she said. “The most exciting part of this experience is that we won’t know exactly how much fruit will arrive at the winery until we’re done picking that morning. One thing for sure, there will be a myriad of activities.”
With just 1,700 cases produced, Passaggio specializes in varietals from Sonoma, Napa, Lake County, Lodi, Clarksburg, and Sonoma Coast.
Crush Camp tickets are $45 per person in advance and $55 per person at the door, and may be purchased online at eventbrite.com/e/crush-camp-with-cindy-tickets-37112576716
