Exploring wineries and tasting a variety of wines is an adventure. In order to further embrace and nourish a love of wine, try creating a blend of wine under the watchful eye of a winemaking expert during a Blending Seminar. Given a foundation of guidelines for what each varietal may contribute to your blend, some suggestions for the amounts of each to try to produce something at least drinkable, and you’re on your way to an unforgettable experience. In the end, you’re left with a better understanding of wine varietals and a renewed appreciation for winemakers.
Blending Seminars are one of my favorite ways to experience the wine from a specific winery. At Kunde Family Estate, their Blending Seminar and Vineyard Tour on April 16, 2011 creates the opportunity for you to learn from their winemaker, Tim Bell. At the end of the seminar, each guest will take home a bottle of their newly created Bordeaux blend. Following this perfect afternoon of sampling personal attempts at winemaking, guests will tour the estate and enjoy a picnic lunch on Kunde’s Vineyard Terrace. To make reservations contact Bonnie Carman at 707.282.1532 to RSVP by April 7, 2011 or email wineclub@kunde.com.
