You know you’ve always wanted to take a helicopter tour over Sonoma. Or be a wine club member, to enjoy all the perks of a top notch winery. Or do what all the tourists do – explore Sonoma County wineries from the ease and comfort of a private limousine.
With the first annual Sonoma County Wine Tourism Day being held May 10, 2014, you can do just that, and save a lot of money to boot. As a promotion from The Wine Road, locals are invited to dine, stay and play – and take a vacation in their own backyard.
As extra encouragement, the program involves more than 60 wineries, plus numerous lodges and restaurant, each offering temptations like free tastings, complimentary corkage and special menus at the restaurants, and discounts and complimentary gifts at the hotels and inns.
To make getting to the destinations easier, there are also discounts on chauffeured wine tours from Pure Luxury Transportation, and preferred pricing on a ride from Sonoma Helicopter Tours.
Simply purchase a $30 ticket for access to all the wineries all across the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys. For lodging and other activities, simply mention “Wine Tourism Day” and receive discounts and special gifts.
Some of the hotels are extending the special through the entire weekend, too – and remember that Sunday is Mother’s Day. It could be the perfect gift for you and mom, since at the quaint, historic Vintage Towers Bed & Breakfast Inn of Cloverdale, for example, guests booking two nights on May 10 and 11 receive a 10% discount off room rates plus $25 off the inn’s signature five hour guided winery tour (regularly $199 per couple).
